Second Annual 5K Walk for Independence a Huge Success

A big thanks to all who supported our 5K Walk that raised nearly $50,000 to support the vital programs we offer. Jaimie Haver and Hilda Shum worked endless hours as co-chairs and were the force behind it's success. We appreciate our corporate sponsors: LNR Property Corporation, UCI Medical Center, LWC, Walking for Derek Hitzel, Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital, UPS, HRGi, Cormier Chevrolet, WAL-MART, BP, Pacific Collision Centers, Original Mike's, Tustin Community Bank, I General Circuits, City National Bank, Diedrich Coffee, Countrywide Insurance Group and Bank of the West.

Our volunteers included groups from: Fountain Valley Hospital, Disney VoluntEARS, National Charity League, Paws, and State Street. They helped with set-up, registration, manning the water stations and at the party after the walk. Brett Bradley was the head hot dog Bar-B-Qer cooking 500 hot dogs.

Kodi Lee, an alumni, started the pre-walk program sharing his musical talents, our preschoolers joined in with "This Little Light of Mine" and "The Wheels on the Bus". The Walk began after Kodi's inspiring rendition of the National Anthem.

All the children received a gold medal from Olympic medalist Connie Paraskevin as the across the finish line.

All of us at Blind Children's Learning Center wish to thank all of you for supporting our kids and coming out for them. See you again next year!!
