Corporate Volunteers Paint School for Blind Children

Santa Ana, CA September 17, 2003 Thirty-five volunteers from Pacificare and Deloitte & Touche will team together at Blind Children's Learning Center on September 27th to paint the exterior of the buildings. On October 4th, Deloitte & Touche, who are funding the project, will return to do touch-up work The Center has grown tremendously during the past two years and has been at its current site for 12 years and it’s been a while since it’s been painted.

Stacey Proctor, president/executive director of Blind Children's Learning Center explained, “We have been able to meet the needs of a growing community and want our facility to look as good as our programs.” She added, “It is wonderful that these volunteers want to give back to their community by giving up a Saturday to make our campus better.”

The project will begin at 8:30 a.m. as the teams start with cleaning, sanding and taping the buildings before the painting begins. Tom Bilek, volunteer coordinator of Blind Children's Learning Center, Diane Jardon of Deloitte & Touche and Scott Neururer of PacifiCare are organizing the project. Jardon is treasurer and Neururer serves as chairman on the Center’s board of directors.
