Dignitaries From China Visit School For Blind Children
Santa Ana - Blind Children's Learning Center welcomed visitors from China who are in the United States to learn more about teaching children with special needs. The government in China is involved with abandoned children who often times have special needs. The dignitaries are in Santa Ana until October 30 as guests of Caring For China and the Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce.
Jon Dietz, an American businessman and president of Caring For China, USA , became involved with orphanages in China over 10 years ago. He invited Fu Xin-min, president of Hanzhong Social Welfare Center and Zhange Chun-xi, vice-president of the Hanzhong Department of Civil Affairs, to visit Blind Children's Learning Center. The Center is a model program in providing direct services to blind, visually impaired and deaf/blind children and youth, birth to 22 years of age. Through it's website, www.blindkids.org, Blind Children's Learning Center is reaching other countries with information on blind children.
An interpreter accompanied Mr. Fu and Mr. Zhange since they speak no English and Dietz's Chinese is limited. The men met with Stacey Proctor, president, Kathy Goodspeed, preschool director, and Linn Morgan, director of community relations. As they toured the preschool they had an opportunity to witness how blind, visually impaired and deaf/blind children learn and play together with sighted peers preparing them for public school.
