HELP FAMILIES SEE STRONG
BY MIDNIGHT 12/31 TO HAVE YOUR GIFT COUNTED IN 2019

Skiing, swimming, and traveling the world — when Omar and Miriam discovered their firstborn son was blind, these activities seemed unimaginable.

Today, all three of their remarkable children are living life with visual impairments to the fullest.

This holiday season, we need your help creating strength for a record number of families at Blind Children's Learning Center.
Mom and Dad with three visually impaired children

You can create strength for holiday season
____________
Dad with visually impaired son on shoulders
Ten years ago, the Jaber family turned to Blind Children’s Learning Center in desperation after learning their infant son, Jaber, was blind. “It was tragic. My wife and I cried a lot,” remembers Omar, the father. “We didn’t know if he would ever walk or talk.”

Their life could feel limited, full of insurmountable obstacles. Thanks to you, this family has the strength and confidence to embrace new opportunities. Support for Jaber created strength in his family. You helped provide early intervention, therapy services, and dedicated teachers so Jaber could build a strong foundation.

A hereditary condition caused Jaber’s blindness, meaning siblings could also be affected. Filled with strength from watching their son thrive at BCLC, Omar and Mariam no longer felt fear. “When our second child, Jasmine, was diagnosed, we had hope,” said Omar. “We knew BCLC would help our daughter the way they have helped Jaber.”

Now, Jaber (10), Jasmine (8), and baby Jasim (1) have all received comprehensive services from BCLC. They each focus on the things they can do instead of the things they can’t.

Jaber excels in math, loves outer space, and will even attend adaptive space camp this summer. Jasmine is a bright and confident second grader, and baby Jasim is making incredible progress in BCLC’s Global Infant Development program. Jasim is already crawling, babbling, and keeping the family on their toes.

“We’ve been strong. With the support we’ve had here, everything is possible,” says Omar with a smile.

There are nearly twice* as many families who need your help overcoming the fear and desperation Omar and Mariam felt. Your holiday donation will give children who are blind and visually impaired, and their families, the strength to persevere.

Please send a gift today to help more families find the strength to build full, happy lives.

*P.S. We are providing TWICE as many families critical early intervention services compared to 2016. Your holiday gift will give each of these families the tools they need to thrive.
