The Independent Living Skills program provides mentoring, tutoring, and outing opportunities, as well as Daily Living Skills classes. The objective is to provide positive and practical experiences while building the self-esteem and independence of visually impaired young adults.
Daily Living Skills classes provide training, support, and experiences designed to increase independence. The curriculum includes lessons and social outings to make each student as independent as possible.
Mentoring pairs mentors with visual impairments (ages 14-21) with mentees (ages 3-11) to give younger students a sense of community. Mentors gain self confidence and leadership skills acting as role models and tutors to mentees.
