The Independent Living Skills program provides mentoring, tutoring, real-world outing opportunities, and Daily Living Skills classes.
____________ Daily Living Skills classes provide training, support, and experiences designed to increase independence. The curriculum includes lessons and social outings to make each student as independent as possible. Mentoring pairs mentors with visual impairments (ages 14-21) with mentees (ages 3-11) to give younger students a sense of community. Mentors gain self confidence and leadership skills acting as role models and tutors to mentees. |
PRACTICAL LIVING SKILLS SUCH AS COOKING AND CLEANING GIVE TEENS AND YOUNG ADULTS WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENTS THE TOOLS TO LIVE THEIR DAY-TO-DAY LIFE AS INDEPENDENTLY AS POSSIBLE
