Orientation & Mobility allows children who are blind or visually impaired to navigate their surroundings independently and safely. Providing this service as early as possible produces a positive outcome for critical areas of self-sufficiency:
• Navigating both familiar and unfamiliar environments such as an office building or public sidewalks
• Interacting with peers on the playground
• Accessing items around the house
Children ages three to eighteen are paired with a licensed Orientation & Mobility Specialist to learn how to strategically assess their environment using senses other than sight. Adventures through local neighborhoods and a special Mobility Training Center teach children with visual impairments how to confidently navigate a world full of variety and change.
