Family Visions

Family Visions is a parent support group, meets monthly to discuss the unique needs of their children. Guest speakers share their knowledge in the field of blindness, giving parents a chance to ask questions and share their personal experiences. Parenting classes are available to help parents learn more about child development and behavior of their special needs kids.

Parent & Me Sensory Motor Communication Groups

Our Parent & Me groups give parents and children an opportunity to learn together. Each group offers activities to enhance the communication between parent and child. Parent learn how to adapt everyday activities to their child’s visual impairment, how to better communicate, and most of all have fun!

The groups are led by BCLC’s Deaf/Blind Intervener, and an Occupational Therapist. Spanish translation is available. All parents and/or primary care-givers are encouraged to come. Siblings, ages birth to five years, are welcome, too. Parents are encouraged to visit the classroom and learn more about the Center after the group sessions. The groups are offered free of charge. Reservations are required.

Testimonial

In a typical pre-school setting, the children stared and stared at my daughter's eye patch.  It made her so uncomfortable – at two years old!!  At the Center, there was a little girl in her class with an eye patch, and so my daughter felt right at home.  Her vision has become much stronger. This was a gift from Blind Children's Learning Center.  Mom - Trisha Sullivan
