School Nurse

The importance of a School Nurse at BCLC cannot be over emphasized. From prevention of communicable diseases to case management of individual children with chronic conditions, the school nurse’s responsibilities are great. Jill Tabera R.N., is a resource to parents, teachers and staff, answering questions and concerns over the well being of the children at school and at home. “Jill was able to bring us up-to-the-minute information about the flu virus, which was key in our efforts to keep everyone healthy and reduce absences,” according to Ms. Trumbull. BCLC’s nurse sees all children on the campus for any sicknesses or injuries they may have. She also identifies and treats health disorders for special needs kids.

In a typical pre-school setting, the children stared and stared at my daughter's eye patch.  It made her so uncomfortable – at two years old!!  At the Center, there was a little girl in her class with an eye patch, and so my daughter felt right at home.  Her vision has become much stronger. This was a gift from Blind Children's Learning Center.  Mom - Trisha Sullivan
