GRANDPARENTS
We are paternal grandparents to Nora who graduated from your excellent school in July. We attended the graduation ceremonies and thought it was wonderful. We cannot tell you how grateful we are for all that you and your staff did for Nora from her birth until her graduation. I know she would not be near as far along if she would not have had all the care and assistance from your excellent program. So from us as her grandparents so far away in Pennsylvania, THANK YOU!!! Any of the times we had a chance to visit our family in California, I think we always made a visit to BCLC when we were there. Mr. and Mrs. Flynn (end text)
PARENT OF SIGHTED PEERS
There have been many positive experiences with having my children at BCLC but the greatest one for me is that they are learning to be compassionate and tolerant of other children with disabilities. When we are out in public they do not stare at people with disabilities and will be the first to jump in and offer assistance if needed (most of the time). They are not afraid of individuals who may look “different.” I feel they have also gained enormous confidence in themselves through this process as they are usually able to do more than most of there peers and they can then assist their peers and feel proud of their accomplishments. – Shaneen Lugassy (end text).
PARENT OF BCLC GRADUATE
We brought our son, Andrew, to Blind Children’s Learning Center as soon as we learned he was blind. The atmosphere was so warm and inviting. As I looked around, I could tell that BCLC “really gets blind kids.” He learned so much here from the dedicated teachers and the incredible therapy specialists, but the thing that I consider the most important, is that Andrew grew in confidence and a belief in his abilities. He is now an active teenager, and an accomplished musician. It all started here at BCLC. – Bridget Skvarla
